About Us

Our Mission
Our mission is to create a learning and transforming center that responsibly utilizes the natural capital of the land in developing lifeways that are physically, spiritually, emotionally and ecologically healthy for all our relations.
Healing our People is essential in returning to our traditional, seventh generation approach to decision making. Before we can focus on the well-being of generations to come, we must each take responsibility for our own health and well-being, and begin to truly heal.
Who We Are
Buffalo Star People are a Lakota Tiospaye, a family related by blood or adoption, who have experienced a profound awakening to the critical need for transformational education to achieve optimum health and well-being, and a return to responsible stewardship of Mother Earth.
We are committed to sharing our gifts and knowledge with others to promote healthy, socially responsible, and sustainable individuals, families and communities.
We are people, firmly grounded in our cultural and spiritual ways, who have education and expertise in many areas including: psychology; child development; clinical social work; ICWA; healing from childhood sexual abuse; public speaking; forensic interviewing; education; financial engineering; mechanical engineering; woodworking; straw-bale construction; business; grants management; organic and sustainable gardening; using foods as medicine; and the use of Lakota life-ways that honor and sustain Mother Earth.
